This resin set from the premium Eduard Brassin line brings a faithful rendering of the American GBU-38 JDAM guided aerial bomb in 1:48 scale, in the version with a thermally protected surface. The package combines cast resin parts with accessories for precise markings and is meant to be carried under models of combat aircraft. It is not a kit of an aircraft but detailed armament.
The GBU-38 JDAM is a 500-pound guided bomb with the JDAM kit, which turns a classic unguided bomb into precision guided munition using GPS and inertial navigation. It has been in the armament of the US Air Force and Navy and of a range of other operators since the early 2000s. The version with thermal protection has a special surface reducing the risk of self-ignition during a fire on board.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, separate the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). For painting you will use the enclosed masks and markings; a light gray body with yellow and brown stripes according to the role of the bomb is typical.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
