A set of masks for the long canopy of the British delta-winged Gloster Javelin interceptor in 1:48 scale. It covers the framing from both sides and matches the clear parts of the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Javelin was a remarkable machine for its day. The British wanted an interceptor able to operate in any weather, with radar, two engines and a crew of two, and the result was a large delta wing completed by a high-set horizontal tail surface, a combination you will hardly meet anywhere else. It entered service in 1956 and defended British airspace as well as bases in the Middle and Far East. The late form received afterburning and a fixed probe for refueling in flight, thanks to which a squadron could fly halfway around the world. Behind the cockpit sat a radar operator whose station had no view forward.
The cockpit of the Javelin is elongated, has several divided panes and the frames run both lengthwise and across. The cut pieces set the edge of the paint exactly on the frame, hold on smooth plastic by themselves and are taken off after spraying.
The frame between the pilot and the operator is wide and it is worth spraying it separately, because it is precisely there that the transition between the inner and the outer shade is most in view. A delta wing also invites holding the model by its tips while masking, which does not pay off on thin edges; it is better to rest it on a stand.
