A set of resin wheels for the Gloster Meteor F.1 and F.3 in 1:48 scale replaces the wheels from a plastic kit with more exact castings. It is an accessory for the landing gear, not a model of an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is an add-on resin set, not a kit of an aircraft. It contains landing gear wheels corresponding to the early versions of the British Gloster Meteor jet fighter, specifically the F.1 and F.3 standards. The resin castings have no mold seam across the tread and hold finer detail on the rim and in the lettering on the side of the tire, that is exactly what usually gets lost on plastic wheels during cleaning up.
The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter brought into service and the only Allied jet type that got into service during the Second World War. The early F.1 and F.3 versions differ from the later ones among other things in their shorter engine nacelles and in details of the landing gear. For a model this means that wheels from the later versions need not match, and the other way round. This set is meant for the early versions, so with later ones check whether the standard suits them.
Wash the wheels in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with superglue; cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Apply a primer before painting. Separate the rim and the tire with a circular mask or with masking fluid. Tires suit a dark gray shade and a fine dusting near the contact patch; on aircraft operating from grass a light layer of soil on the rims also helps.
This is an add-on set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
