A resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Quickboost (the Aires brand). This is not an aircraft kit but an accurate replacement for the bomb ejectors of a plastic model of the Soviet Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik ground-attack aircraft. The parts are finely cast with a convincing mechanism, so they replace the simplified plastic items from the box and sharpen up the bomb bays in the wing.
The Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik was a Soviet ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, built in enormous numbers and famous for its armor as well as for its effect on ground targets. In the wing it carried bomb bays with a mechanism that released the bombs; anyone building a model with the bays open will appreciate having them rendered faithfully.
Wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and dry-fit them; bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways when sanding resin. Paint the mechanism separately, set the metal surfaces off in a steel shade, and a light wash will bring out the details and the shadows inside the bays.
This is a resin detail set, not a kit. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
