Tempest Mk.V exhaust stacks 1:48 is a resin detail accessory from Eduard, precisely cast exhaust stacks for 1:48 models of the Hawker Tempest Mk.V fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft model but a resin detail set from Eduard, from the Brassin range. The set replaces the plastic exhaust stacks of the engine with fine castings that have hollow outlets and a truer shape, which noticeably raises the realism of a 1:48 model of the Hawker Tempest Mk.V fighter.
The Hawker Tempest Mk.V was a British fighter from the end of the Second World War powered by a Napier Sabre engine with its cylinders arranged in an H. It excelled at high speed at low altitude and made its name as a successful hunter of V-1 flying bombs and of ground targets. The exhaust stacks along the sides of the engine cowling are among its most distinctive features, and this set sharpens them.
Wash the parts to remove mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces lightly with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The hollow exhaust outlets come into their own once they are painted in metallic shades and picked out with a dark wash and rusty pigments for the look of heat-stressed metal.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
