A combined Eduard SPACE set for detailing the interior of the F-14A Tomcat fighter in 1:48 scale. It is neither a model nor a kit — it is an accessory intended for the plastic kit from the manufacturer Tamiya. SPACE brings two technologies together: preprinted colored 3D decals of the main and side instrument and control panels, which give the cockpit a three-dimensional, realistic look, and colored steel photo-etch with seat harnesses and small parts. The combination replaces the flat elements of the basic kit with more faithful, three-dimensional detail without the need to paint the dials by hand.
With the 3D decals, moisten only the backing paper under the element, lift the element off with tweezers and fix it on a prepared, degreased surface with white PVA glue; a decal softener does not belong on them, as its chemistry attacks the printed resin. The steel photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife, bent over an edge or in a bending tool and glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Work in good light and with tweezers, as the parts are fine.
