1:48 Grumman TBF-1C Avenger is a photo-etched set from Eduard intended to refine the details of a plastic model of the carrier-based torpedo bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane kit but an accessory. Parts are etched into a fret of thin sheet, and they replace or complete the areas that injection-molded plastic cannot capture at a matching thickness. Before buying, check that the set matches the kit you are building and to what extent it involves changes to it.
The Grumman TBF Avenger was a three-seat carrier-based torpedo bomber of the US Navy of the Second World War period. It had a bulky fuselage with an internal weapons bay, a radial engine and folding wings adapted for operation from aircraft carriers. The TBF-1C version differed from the basic configuration in the arrangement of its fixed armament. Thanks to the large glazing and the roomy cockpit, more of the interior is visible on a model of this type than on a single-seat fighter, so fine accessories show up on the result more markedly.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not by twisting them. Degrease the sheet before gluing with alcohol or mineral spirits, otherwise neither the glue nor the paint will hold. Make the folds in a bending tool, not with tweezers. Bond small parts with cyanoacrylate glue applied on a pinhead, so that the excess does not spread over the surrounding plastic. Work over a surface with raised edges, as small photo-etched parts fly off.
This is an accessory for a plastic model. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
