An injection-molded plastic kit of the British fighter Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc in tropical form (Trop) in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is newer tooling with a clear breakdown of parts: the box holds several plastic sprues, a clear sprue for the glazing and decals for color schemes. The tropical version carries the characteristic anti-dust filter under the nose. Both the fuselage and the wing are worked out in detail, the build is friendly and it is a good basis for adding photo-etch or masks from the accessory range.
Alongside the Spitfire, the Hurricane was the main British fighter of the early part of the war. The Mk.IIc version carried an armament of four 20 mm cannons and became a universal machine: fighter, ground-attack aircraft and escort. The tropical conversion with its dust filter allowed service in North Africa, in the Middle East and in Southeast Asia, where Hurricanes did a great deal of work in ground support. The rugged structure was easy to repair in field conditions.
Use thin cement for plastic and dry-fit the parts. Mask the cockpit glazing and paint it separately. Spray a primer before painting, lay down a gloss coat under the decals and unify the whole with a matte one. A desert camouflage owes its final impression to subtle weathering and dust effects on the lower surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
