Replacement main wheels with flattening under load for models of the Hellcat and Corsair in 1:48 scale, the variant 1 form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the main landing gear wheels on models of the American carrier fighters Hellcat and Corsair in 1:48 scale. Both subjects are among the best-known machines that flew from the decks of aircraft carriers in the Second World War, and their wheels are designed so similarly that one set covers them both. The designation variant 1 distinguishes the form of the wheel within the range, because the machines differed in tread pattern and in the fill of the hub.
The wheels are worked as they look under the weight of a standing aircraft: the tire is flattened where it meets the ground and bulges slightly to the sides. The model thereby gains the impression of weight that a cylindrical wheel from a kit never has. The condition is correct seating. The flat has to point down toward the ground and rest on the surface over its whole area, otherwise the model looks as if it were standing on a burst tire. So before the glue dries, stand the model on a flat board and set the axle of the wheel level.
The parts are not polystyrene, so they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the remainder so that you do not touch the shape of the tire. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. It works well to spray the whole wheel in the tone of the tire first and then to paint the hub in with a brush or through a mask. The particular procedure for preparing the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
A model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
