A photo-etched set for a model of the British Hawker Hurricane Mk. IIc fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter that, together with the Spitfire, bore the main burden of the Battle of Britain. The Mk. IIc version differs from the earlier machines in its armament: instead of machine guns it carries four 20 mm cannons in the wing. Under the cowling works the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12. The fuselage with its tube frame and the fabric covering of the rear section could be repaired in the field faster than an all-metal structure, which was a substantial advantage in wartime.
A photo-etched set for a model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch gives the model the features that cannot be made thin enough in plastic: the instrument panel and the side consoles, the seat belts, levers and consoles, covers and grilles. The exact range of parts and the places they are seated are given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by twisting. Run the bends on a bending tool or between the jaws of flat tweezers, so that the edge is not rounded. They are bonded with super glue applied in a tiny amount. Before painting, wash the surfaces, degrease them and spray them with a base coat, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth metal and will rub off during handling.
The set suits modelers with experience of fine work and tweezers. Good spot lighting of the working area and a surface on which tiny parts will not get lost pay off. It is an add-on to a kit: the model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
