A set of etched metal parts for the Hurricane Mk.I model in 1:48 scale. Thin metal replaces plastic features that come out of the mold too thick.

A set of etched metal parts for a model of the Hurricane Mk.I in 1:48 scale. Etched sheet metal holds a flat surface and a sharp edge, and looks more convincing at scale than the same feature molded in plastic, which must be thicker because of the mold. Which parts the set contains and where they go on the model is listed in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Hurricane Mk.I is a British fighter from the start of the Second World War that, alongside the Spitfire, bore the brunt of the fighting in the Battle of Britain in 1940. Its construction is mixed: the fuselage frame is a tubular truss structure with the rear section covered in fabric, which made repairing damaged aircraft easier. The wing is thick, and the main landing gear retracts toward the fuselage centerline.
Read through the whole instruction sheet first. A number of the etched parts belong inside the fuselage, so they must be fitted before the two halves are glued together; you will not be able to reach them afterward. Separate the parts with a sharp blade against a hard surface and sand down the remaining tab. Make bends against the edge of a steel ruler and allow for the metal springing back slightly. Glue with a drop of cyanoacrylate; polystyrene cement does not bond to metal. Before painting, wash the surface, degrease it with alcohol, and apply a thin primer.
The package contains only the etched parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
