A set of wheels from the Japanese brand Top Studio intended for a model of the Mazda 787B sports prototype in 1:24 scale. This is not a kit of the car; it is a replacement for the rims that are part of the base plastic kit, which the modeler buys separately.
Why the rims are replaced: the wheel is one of the most closely watched places on a finished model. On injection-molded plastic the spokes and the flange of the rim have rounded edges and between the spokes the material tends to be of a technologically necessary thickness. Replacement rims have sharper edges and a more slender profile, so the model comes across as more accurate at first glance.
The Mazda 787B is a sports prototype of the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, powered by a four-rotor Wankel engine. The car is known above all for its victory in the Le Mans endurance race in 1991, and its striking color combination makes it a rewarding subject for modelers.
Degrease the rims and spray them with a base color; a smooth surface will not hold the paint without a base. Apply glossy or metallic shades in thin coats on a smooth base and let them dry thoroughly, because metallic paint is hard to mask and to overspray. Before you glue the rims into the tires, check dry that both the flange and the axis fit. Bond with super glue in a minimal amount, so that it does not run onto a visible surface.
This is not a kit of a model. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
