Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik mod. 1943 SPACE, 1:48 is a set of color 3D decals from the Eduard brand for the cockpit interior. The parts are laid onto the surface of a model and are not painted over afterwards.

This is neither a kit nor a photo-etched set to be bent. The SPACE line from the Czech firm Eduard consists of 3D printed decals: the color is printed from the factory and the layer has relief, so on a flat plastic part the impression of raised instruments and controls is created. The set is intended for a model of the Il-2 in the mod. 1943 version in 1:48 scale.
The Il-2 Shturmovik is a single-engine Soviet-built attack aircraft in which the forward part of the airframe was designed as an armored shell protecting the engine, the radiators and the crew. The 1943 version belongs to a later stage of the type's development with a two-seat cockpit. On a model the interior is visible above all through the open glazing over the pilot and over the rear station.
This is the fastest way to get color and legible detail into a cockpit. The painting of individual dials with a brush falls away, but several rules apply. The base has to be smooth, clean and degreased, because on a rough or greasy surface the thin layer will not settle and will come off in time. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, moisten only the backing paper with a sponge and a drop of detergent, lift the element off with tweezers and fix it with PVA white glue. Do not use a decal softener at all: the 3D layer reacts to it differently from a classic decal and its chemicals attack and ruin it. The set is not painted over, and once dry it is at most gone over with a matte coat so that the sheen matches its surroundings.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
