About product

Brengun 1:48 RAF Intake Guards (Photo-Etched Meshes)

A photo-etched brass set for making protective meshes and guards over the air intakes of British aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a universal accessory that renders on the model the fine mesh structure real machines tend to have at their intake openings.

What the set is for

The photo-etched meshes replace a coarsely molded or entirely missing mesh at the air intakes and give the model a realistic look. Thin photo-etched sheet captures the structure faithfully, which plastic cannot imitate well in this scale.

Usage tips

Separate the parts with a sharp knife and trim them to the shape you need. Fit them to the shape of the intake, make the bend with a bender and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer.

Who the set is for

  • modelers of British aircraft in 1:48 scale
  • anyone interested in realistic air intakes with mesh
  • more experienced modelers with experience of photo-etch

The set does not contain the model itself, the glue or the paints. It serves as an accessory for a plastic kit.
