Rob Taurus 1:48 Yak-7V – vacuum-formed cockpit canopy

This is a clear vacuum-formed (vacuform) accessory, not an aircraft kit. It replaces the cockpit canopy from the plastic kit with a thinner, cleaner copy that removes the bottle-glass cast typical of thick injection-molded parts and greatly improves the view into the cockpit.

Contents and use

  • A vacuum-formed clear canopy; it usually comes as several pieces, including a version for an open and for a closed cockpit.
  • The part is cut out along its outline with sharp scissors, or scored, broken off and sanded to shape.
  • It is glued with canopy glue (or with thin cyanoacrylate), and the framing is masked and sprayed.
