A resin detail set for the cockpit of the JAS-39C Gripen fighter in 1:48 scale from the Aires brand, with photo-etched parts added. It is not an aircraft model but a complete replacement for the cockpit area, which markedly raises the level of detail. The set is meant for Kitty Hawk kits.
The set replaces the standard plastic cockpit with a faithfully cast tub, instrument panel, side consoles and ejection seat; fine elements such as the seat belts, levers and placards come from the photo-etched parts. The result is a far more realistic view into the cockpit under the canopy glazing.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts and separate them carefully from the casting blocks; glue the photo-etched and the resin parts alike with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways while sanding. Expect that seating the replacement cockpit into the plastic fuselage usually calls for adjustment and sanding.
The accessory is not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
