Saab JAS-39C Gripen exhaust nozzle, open position 1:48 is a resin detail set from the Aires brand for refining the tail of the Swedish fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set brings a faithfully cast resin engine exhaust nozzle for the Swedish Saab JAS-39C Gripen fighter in 1:48 scale, in the open position, that is, with the petals spread as when running in afterburner. It is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic nozzle from the kit and offers crisper detail of both the petals and the interior.
The Gripen is a single-engine multirole fighter. It is powered by a turbofan derived from the American F404 family and built under license in Sweden. The variable nozzle changes its area with the flight regime; the open position corresponds to running in afterburner.
First wash the resin castings in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap to deal with mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks carefully with a saw or snap them off and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The inside of the nozzle is best shaded in metallic and heat-tinted shades with the edges of the petals lightly picked out. Before gluing it in, check that it lines up with the fuselage and fine-tune it with a little sanding if needed.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
