This detailing set from the Czech maker Hauler brings replacement wheels for a kit of the Japanese Type 16 wheeled armored vehicle in 1:48 scale. It is precisely in 1:48 that kit wheels tend to be simplified, so finely cast tires with a crisp tread and well-drawn hubs mean a visible step up in the level of the whole model. It is not a kit in its own right but an accessory designed for a particular kit - check compatibility beforehand. Dimensionally it is based on the Tamiya kit.
The Type 16 Maneuver Combat Vehicle has served the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force since 2016. Its eight-wheeled chassis allows rapid movement under its own power over the road network, while its 105 mm gun provides firepower comparable to that of older tanks. The vehicle is the backbone of rapidly deployable units and, among modern equipment, is a rewarding modeling subject.
Wash the castings to remove the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and level the cut mark with a fine file; protect your airways while sanding resin. Glue with super glue and paint over primer. Given the small scale it pays to lighten the shade of the tires and bring the tread out with a fine wash, so that the detail is not lost.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the basic vehicle kit is not included in the package.
