An injection-molded plastic kit of the anti-tank version of the Junkers Ju 87G-1 Stuka dive bomber in 1:48 scale from Italeri. Besides the plastic parts the box contains photo-etched parts and decals for several marking options. The dominant feature of the G version is the pair of underwing cannons in pods, which earned the aircraft the nickname Kanonenvogel, meaning cannon bird.
The Ju 87 Stuka was a German dive bomber of the Second World War, famous for its cranked wing and for the siren that howled during a dive attack. The Ju 87G-1 Kanonenvogel version was created as an anti-tank conversion: it carried a pair of 37 mm cannons in underwing pods, meant to destroy Soviet armor on the Eastern Front from 1943. The tank-busting ace Hans-Ulrich Rudel made his name above all with this version.
Use thin cement for plastic and finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting, ideally with an airbrush; mask the extensive glazing and the canopy frames. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Assemble the underwing cannon pods separately and fit them at the very end. On Eastern Front schemes, blended camouflage and restrained wear work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
