Eduard 1:48 Ka-50 Hokum is a photo-etched detail set for refining models of the Ka-50 attack helicopter. It is not a model, but a metal accessory for a kit you have already built.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains fine photo-etched metal parts for refining plastic models of the Ka-50 attack helicopter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the helicopter — it is an accessory that is glued into a base kit already under construction and that replaces or adds the details plastic cannot capture faithfully. The photo-etched parts are aimed above all at the cockpit and the interior: the instrument panel, the side consoles, the belts and the small controls, and in some cases exterior details.
The Kamov Ka-50, Hokum in the NATO code and nicknamed the Black Shark, is a Soviet and Russian single-seat attack helicopter with a characteristic pair of coaxial contra-rotating rotors, which removed the need for a compensating tail rotor. Unusually for a helicopter, the pilot has an ejection seat. The machine is armed with a single-barrel 30 mm cannon and carries anti-armor guided missiles as well as unguided rockets.
The photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a cutting surface, bent in a bending tool or with two razor blades, and glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or a small drop of two-part epoxy resin. The details come into their own once they are painted and gently emphasized with a wash in the recesses.
This is an accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
