The laser-guided version 1:48 KAB-1500 L by AMMO of Mig Jimenez captures a heavy Russian bomb intended against hardened targets.
Responsibility details are not available.
Accessory armament by AMMO of Mig Jimenez in the form of two pieces of a Russian guided bomb in the ton-and-a-half class, this time in the laser form. It is intended to be hung under a finished model of a tactical bomber or a ground-attack aircraft.
The final letter L means semi-active laser guidance. Someone illuminates the target with a beam, whether the aiming system of the carrier itself, another aircraft or an observer on the ground, and the seeker head in the forward part of the bomb follows the reflected light. The control surfaces then bring it precisely to the point the beam holds. The advantage is high accuracy and the possibility of shifting the point of impact even in flight. The price for that is the need to keep the illumination up until impact, so the crew cannot turn away immediately. The ton-and-a-half class is used where an ordinary bomb is not enough, that is, on bridge structures, fortified objects and large warehouse buildings. It is carried by the Su-24M and the Su-34, machines with the corresponding carrying capacity and aiming equipment.
The seeker head with its optical window at the nose is the most striking feature, and once painted it will benefit from a drop of a glossy layer imitating glass. Leave the rest of the body matte, which will strengthen the contrast. Try the seating dry and only then reach for a glue suitable for the material of the parts.
