Replacement exhausts for a model of the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was an exception among Japanese fighters of the Second World War: instead of a radial engine it received a liquid-cooled engine, and with it a slim nose and a different profile from the one Allied pilots were used to on Japanese aircraft. The Ki-61-Id version is one of the later variants of the series. The exhausts project along the sides of the nose in a row of short stubs and are clearly visible on the model, because dark smoke stains remain on the skin around them.
The set replaces the exhausts from the kit with more accurate parts in 1:48 scale. The extent of the set and the placement of the parts on the model are given in the maker's instructions, which are worth reading before you cut off the first part.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully so that you do not shorten the stubs. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the part and the maker's instructions; for parts that are not polystyrene, super glue is used. Paint the exhausts in a dark metallic shade, add rusty and brownish tones and only at the end suggest the smoke stain trailing back from the stubs. The stain always runs with the airflow, that is toward the tail, not forward.
For modelers of Japanese fighters in 1:48 scale who swap the most conspicuous kit parts for more accurate ones. The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
