The Tiger II, commonly called the King Tiger or Königstiger, was a German heavy tank of the close of the Second World War. It carried the long-barreled 8.8 cm KwK 43 gun and had steeply sloped frontal armor. It was built with two turret configurations; the production turret of Henschel design had a flat front plate and replaced the earlier configuration with a curved front wall. The high weight of the vehicle showed in its fuel consumption and in the reliability of the transmission.
With large sets the most demanding parts tend to be the long ones, typically sheet-metal strips along the hull. These have to stay straight, because every ripple is visible against the light on a finished model. It pays to lay them on a glass plate before gluing and run a smooth roller or a scalpel handle over them. Glue them in sections: first tack both ends, check the flatness against an edge and only then run the glue along the whole length. Gel cyanoacrylate gives more time to align than a thin one. Before you open the set, go through the whole instructions and divide the work into stages, otherwise it easily happens that a part comes up only after the hull has been closed.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not include. The glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
