A precisely cast resin control stick for the cockpit of the Soviet Lavochkin La-5F/FN fighter in 1:48 scale. It is an aftermarket detail part that replaces the simplified or thick-walled plastic part from the base kit, not a model of the aircraft in its own right.
The Lavochkin La-5 was a Soviet single-engine fighter of the Second World War with a Shvetsov ASh-82 radial engine. Its airframe was largely of wooden construction. The La-5F and La-5FN versions received a boosted engine and a cut-down rear fuselage with a better view from the cockpit, and they were mainstays of the Soviet fighter force on the Eastern Front.
Resin parts need more care than plastic: first wash them to remove mold release residue, carefully separate them from the casting block and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways while sanding and cutting small parts. Apply a primer before painting. The small part is fragile, so separate it carefully; once painted it stands out in a well-detailed cockpit.
