This set is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory from the Brassin range, made by direct 3D printing in resin. It replaces the plastic nose of the twin-boom Lockheed P-38J fighter with a faithful rendering of the nose gun bay, that is the compartment with the concentrated armament and with covers that can be shown removed on the finished model to reveal the interior detail. The accessory is intended for the P-38J kit in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. Small photo-etched parts and decals are usually included as well. It is a product for experienced modelers.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter of the Second World War with its characteristic twin-boom layout and a central nacelle, in the nose of which all the armament was concentrated. The J version was among the more capable variants, with improved cooling. Concentrating the guns on the axis of the machine gave the Lightning accurate and concentrated fire without the need to converge wing-mounted guns.
For advanced builders of the Lightning who want to show the gun bay open on their model, the way a museum exhibit shows it.
This is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
