A set from the Brassin line by the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings 3D printed resin ejection seats for models of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird supersonic reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory that replaces the seats from the base kit and lifts the look of the cockpit markedly.
Direct 3D printing captures the fine straps, handles and structure of the seat far more faithfully than injection-molded plastic. The seats are designed as a direct replacement and go together easily, so even without photo-etch they give the cockpit convincing detail.
Lift the parts carefully off the print supports and sand the faces with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A primer is recommended, then the base color with an airbrush and the straps and handles picked out with a brush; a final weathering pass brings the detail out.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
