The resin set Reskit 1:48 main rotor for the Mil Mi-2 helicopter replaces the rotor head and the blades from the kit with castings of finer detail.

This is a supplementary set, not a model of a helicopter. The content is a resin replacement of the main rotor, which is the most exposed place on every model of a helicopter. The rotor head is a dense cluster of tiny control rods, hinges and dampers that an injection mold can capture only in a simplified way. A resin casting manages fine shapes and undercuts too, so after the replacement a model looks substantially more faithful, including when seen from above, which with helicopters is usual at exhibitions.
The Mil Mi-2 is a light multipurpose helicopter of Soviet design with a pair of turboshaft engines above the cabin. It was built in series in Poland and it was used in army as well as civil roles, from training and liaison through medical evacuation to agricultural work. It is precisely the pair of small turbines and the three-blade main rotor that give the machine its characteristic silhouette.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, because otherwise the remains of the mold release agent keep the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw, as the rotor blades are thin and crack under rough handling, and protect your airways while sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Mount the rotor only at the end of the build, after varnishing and applying the decals, so that it does not get in your way. The blades will benefit from a fine shading of the leading edges and a light dusting toward the tips.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. It is supplied unpainted; the glue, the paints and the kit are not included in the package.
