Wheels for the Martin B-26B Marauder in 1:48 scale from Eduard - a replacement for the kit's landing gear wheels that visibly adds to the credibility of the medium bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
These replacement wheels from the Czech company Eduard lift the landing gear of the Marauder medium bomber. Swapping the wheels is one of the quickest changes with a large visual payoff - on a twin-engined machine standing on tricycle gear the tires are in view all the time, and every detail of the tread pattern counts.
The Martin B-26B Marauder was a fast medium bomber of the US Army Air Forces with a reputation as a demanding machine; its high wing loading meant brisk landing speeds and heavy demands on the landing gear. Once the training was mastered, though, the Marauder proved exceptionally tough, and the units flying it over Western Europe achieved some of the lowest losses among USAAF bomber types. Its targets: bridges, rail yards and V-1 launch sites, both before the invasion and after it.
Lightly sand the mating surface of the wheels, dry-fit them against the gear leg to compare how they sit, and only then glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. The Marauder stands on nose gear, so stand the model on a flat board before gluing the wheels on and check that all three touch the surface. Paint the inner faces of the gear bays and doors before you reach the wheels with tweezers. Paint the tires in a dark gray rubber shade rather than pure black and bring out the tread pattern with light drybrushing; the hub stands out with a liquid mask.
