1:48 Martin-Baker Mk.10 Seat belts offers a harness for the modern Mk.10 rocket seat in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for builders of modern jet aircraft whose cabin is dominated by the Mk.10 ejection seat. The set is prepared in 1:48 scale and is fitted onto the seat you have in your kit or as a resin replacement.
The Mk.10 family established itself in European combat and training machines of the 1970s and 1980s. It was carried by the Panavia Tornado in both its fighter and its strike form, by the BAe Hawk trainer used by a display team as well, by the Italian-Brazilian AMX and by the MB-339 trainer. Besides the ordinary straps, the equipment also includes leg restraint lines at the pilot's feet that tighten on firing and pull the legs to the seat, so that they are not injured while passing through the canopy.
In 1:48 scale the seat sits deep in the cockpit tub and, through the canopy frame, it is mainly the upper part of the back and the surface of the cushion that are visible. That is exactly where a harness is most effective, so give that area the greatest care. It helps to paint the cockpit tub darker than the straps: the contrast does more for the legibility of detail than the subtlest shade. Finally seat the seat, with the harness already finished, into the tub rather than the other way around, so that you do not crush the belts while handling it.
