The New Ware 1:48 He-111 H-6 EXPERT mask set is the most comprehensive step of the range for this type. It deals with masking the extensive glazing, which cutting tape by hand would draw out by hours.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer New Ware in 1:48 scale is an aftermarket aid for painting, not a kit. It holds self-adhesive masks cut to the shape of the parts of the particular ICM 48262 kit. The EXPERT step means the widest extent within this mask range, that is coverage of a greater number of parts than in the lower steps.
The subject is a German twin-engine bomber of the period of the Second World War with a glazed nose. The glazing forms a large area divided into a great many small panes with narrow frames. Cutting them from tape by hand means dozens of accurate cuts with a scalpel, and any inaccuracy shows on the finished model, because the glazed nose is the most exposed part to the eye. A pre-cut mask shortens this work to applying the individual pieces and, above all, makes the width of all the frames uniform.
First wash the clear parts and let them dry completely. Apply the masks in a logical order, ideally from the middle of the area toward the edges, so that no gap is left. Lay each piece on dry first and check its position, and only then press it down. Seal the edges with a thin coat of the interior color or of gloss clear. Spray the frames with several light coats; with a heavy coat a ridge forms at the edge of the mask that stays visible once it is removed. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch and firm, not after several days.
This is a stand-alone mask set. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
