The 1:48 MiG-15bis Fagot-B Expert masking set offers the widest range of cut self-adhesive masks in kabuki paper for painting a model of the classic first-generation jet fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from New Ware is intended for a model in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut from kabuki paper, a material that holds on curved surfaces, can be lifted off without damaging the paint and leaves no tacky film behind. Expert is the widest of the grades of coverage offered, that is the version with the largest number of masks.
MiG-15 models are often built in an unpainted metal finish, or with a silver coat. Such a surface is the most demanding of all: every lifted edge of tape, every fingerprint and the slightest build-up on an edge shows at once. A cut mask adheres evenly and, above all, comes off without any prying, which with a metallic finish is decisive. A wider grade of the set usually also deals with further areas, so during one build you avoid sticking inaccurate strips down over and over.
Let a metallic finish cure thoroughly; with some types that takes several days. Only then apply the mask and press it down with a stick, not a fingernail. Spray the color of the frames in thin coats, the interior shade first and, once it is dry, the shade of the external finish. Lift the mask off slowly and bend it back over itself at a sharp angle, not straight up from the surface. If a trace of paint does lift, repair it with a brush before you apply the protective coat. Keep the leftover sheet for small masking jobs on other models.
This is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
