A copper tube for building models and accessories. The outside diameter is 4 mm, the wall thickness 0.45 mm and the length 305 mm; the bore of the tube therefore comes out at 3.1 mm. The package contains one piece. Copper is soft and pliable, so it can be shaped with the fingers and with ordinary modeling tools, yet it holds the shape you give it and does not spring back the way steel does.
The tube replaces the places on a model where a hollow cross section is needed and where a plastic part looks too thick: the ends of exhausts, the muzzles of barrels, hoses and lines, handrails, masts, railings or the load-bearing elements of dioramas. A bore of 3.1 mm lets you pass a wire or a thinner tube through it and build a telescopic joint from several diameters that holds by itself and can be taken apart.
Part the tube with a jeweler's saw, or score it with a sharp blade and turn it until the material separates; do not cut it with pliers, because the end will be squashed flat. Remove the burrs inside and out with a countersink turned in the fingers or with a fine file. When bending to a smaller radius, fill the tube first, or it will kink at the bend. Before painting, degrease the surface and rub it over with a fine abrasive so that the paint has something to grip; smooth copper is otherwise slippery and the paint peels off it.
Tools, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
