1:48 MiG-23MF/ML Bedna EXPERT masks is a New Ware masking set at the widest level of the range, for a model of the Soviet variable-geometry fighter in 1:48 scale. It serves for painting the model and does not contain the kit itself.

A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the MiG-23 in the MF and ML versions in 1:48 scale. The EXPERT level is the widest variant of the New Ware range: besides the main glazing it also covers other features of the airframe. The masks are cut to the shape of the Eduard 11120 kit. The nickname Bedna, meaning crate, comes from Czech crews and refers to the boxy shape of the forward fuselage.
The MiG-23 was a Soviet single-engine fighter with a variable-geometry wing, which allowed takeoff from shorter runways as well as fast flight with the wing swept back. The MF version was the export form, widespread in a number of allied forces including the Czechoslovak one, while the ML meant a lightened and aerodynamically revised variant with modernized equipment. The cockpit sits high in the boxy forward fuselage and the canopy has a pronounced pattern of frames.
On this type it is worth reaching for a wider level of the set, because besides the cockpit frames a wheel is also a rewarding target for masking. The rim can only be sprayed separately from the tire if the border is accurate, and trimming a circle by hand is work that few people do cleanly twice the same way. The set settles that part in a few seconds. Place the masks with tweezers, press them down all round and spray thin coats straight from above. After the masks come off, keep the leftover sheet in an envelope out of direct light: the lattice left by the cut-out shapes and the offcuts are excellent for masking small areas, covering nozzles or holding parts while spraying. The adhesive keeps its tack for a long time as long as the sheet does not lie in dust.
The package contains masking templates only. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
