A pair of French guided missiles Matra R-530 in 1:48 scale for equipping models of fighters of the nineteen-sixties and seventies.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item from the brand AMMO of Mig Jimenez brings two pieces of the French Matra R-530 guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory of armament, not a model of an aircraft on its own: the missiles are hung on the fuselage or wing pylon of a finished kit. Two pieces match the usual hanging of one missile under each half of the wing.
The R-530 came into being at the French firm Matra and became the first domestic medium-range air-to-air guided missile that the French Air Force took into service. It was built in two guidance forms, semi-active radar and infrared, both of which shared an identical body. You recognize it by a squat body with short fins and a massive cross of tail surfaces. It was carried by a whole generation of Dassault Mirage III and Mirage F1 machines, and with the navy then by the Vought F-8E built for France. Besides the domestic user you will meet it with a range of export customers as well, from Israel to South Africa.
Prepare and spray the missile before you join it to the model, or you will have poor access to the mounting lug. The light shades of this ordnance react sensitively to the undercoat, so a white primer layer pays off. Pick out the sharp transitions between the body and the seeker head with thin removable toning, not with a wash over the whole area.
The package does not contain the carrying aircraft, paints or glue.
