Eduard 1:48 McDonnell Douglas F-15E Eagle is a Big Ed pack of photo-etched sets and masks for adding detail to the model in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Big Ed is a combined package from the Czech manufacturer Eduard that brings several separately sold accessory sets for one particular model together in a single box. Typically it is a combination of photo-etched sets aimed at different parts of the aircraft and a mask set for the glazing, and sometimes for the wheels as well. Let us stress that Big Ed is not a kit — there is no model of the aircraft in the package and the accessories are fitted into a model you buy separately. This pack is intended for the model of the two-seat F-15E in 1:48 scale.
The F-15E is a twin-engine, two-seat multirole aircraft derived from the single-seat fighter of the F-15 series. Compared with the original version it has a strengthened structure, a second crew station in tandem, reworked avionics and conformal fuel tanks fitted against the sides of the fuselage. It is exactly these features, together with extensive landing gear and heavily paneled surfaces, that give photo-etched sets plenty of scope in this scale — from the cockpit through the landing gear bays to the external detail of the airframe.
Work through the sets one at a time and do not try to fit everything at once; each part of the model belongs to a different stage of the build. The color self-adhesive photo-etch goes into the cockpit right at the start, while the exterior parts go on only once the seams have been filled. Bend the uncolored brass photo-etch in a bending tool, not in your fingers. Stick the masking parts onto a perfectly cured and degreased finish, press the edges down with a toothpick and lift them off shortly after the paint has set. Use a base coat before painting the metal parts.
The package holds only the accessory sets. The model, glue and paints are not part of it.
