1:48 Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4, cockpit frame mask for the outer side of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
An outer cockpit frame mask for the Bf 109F-4 fighter in 1:48 scale. The set deals with the side of the glazing that is visible on a finished model with the canopy closed, that is the first thing any visitor to a display case notices.
The Friedrich marked a great step in the development of the Bf 109: rounded wing tips, tail surfaces without external struts, a retractable tailwheel and a cleaner engine cowling. The armament moved into the fuselage and the engine, so the wing stayed aerodynamically clean. Pilots took to the Friedrich for its light controls and balance, even though some units disliked the reduction in gun armament. The F-4 form received a more powerful engine and better protected tanks and became famous above all over North Africa and on the Eastern Front.
The transition from the frame onto the fuselage is one of those places where every extra millimeter shows. Take the frame exactly to the outline and do not carry the paint over onto the surrounding skin. Apply the shade in several passes and let it rest between coats. Finish the seat, the belts and the gunsight before you set the canopy in place. Before painting, fit the canopy dry and note where it seats.
