MiG-15 / Lim-1 1:48 – a plastic kit

An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet jet fighter MiG-15 (designated Lim-1 in its Polish license-built version) in 1:48 scale. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a classic plastic kit to be glued and sprayed. The real subject

The MiG-15 was one of the first successful swept-wing jet fighters and became a symbol of the start of the jet age. It made its name above all in the Korean War, where it met American F-86 Sabres. It was powered by a centrifugal-flow turbojet whose design came from the British Rolls-Royce Nene. The aircraft was armed with cannon and was built in enormous numbers, including under license in other countries. The Polish license-built variant carried the designation Lim-1 and was produced by the Polish aircraft industry. Thanks to its simple and rugged design the MiG-15 became one of the most widely used fighters of its day.

Building and painting tips

Finish and paint the cockpit and the nose intake duct before closing up the fuselage. Glue the model with liquid cement for plastic, fill the seams and sand them back. For the typical natural metal look use metalizers and differentiate the individual panels with different shades; green or gray camouflage schemes are an alternative, depending on the operator. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and even the whole thing out with a final clear coat.
