An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet MiG-17 jet fighter in its early Fresco-A version in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Kovozavody Prostejov. The package contains plastic parts complemented by alternative parts, a decal sheet with several schemes and color instructions. The finished model has a span of about 201 mm and a length of around 237 mm.
The MiG-17 came about at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s as a development of the MiG-15, with the aim of intercepting fast targets effectively. Compared with its predecessor it received a new, more sharply swept wing and aerodynamic changes that improved its behavior at high speeds. It became one of the most widespread jet fighters of its era and served in many countries of the world.
Use thin cement for plastic and clean the seams on the fuselage carefully. Soviet machines came in natural metal as well as in colored camouflage, so consider whether you will reach for metallic paint or for ordinary color. The cockpit and the air intake duct deserve attention before the fuselage is closed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
