A metal accessory for the MiG-21bis plastic kit in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model. According to the name the set is aimed at the exterior detail of the airframe, that is the elements visible on a finished model without opening the cockpit or any panels. That is where a plastic molding tends to be thickest for the scale and where the difference after replacing it with etch is seen best.
A full set, not a smaller Zoom
Eduard distinguishes the more extensive full photo-etched sets from the smaller pre-painted sets of the Zoom range. This is a full set. Check the extent of the package and the number of parts on the box.
The MiG-21 is a single-engine aircraft with a delta wing and a circular air intake in the nose with a movable cone. The bis version is the last large production single-seat variant of the whole family and differs from the older forms mainly in the fuselage and the equipment.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel or etch scissors on a hard surface and never break them out by twisting. Make the bends over the edge of a bending tool or over a razor blade, so that they are sharp and straight. They are bonded with super glue applied in a truly small amount, and on larger areas a two-part epoxy helps, as it gives time to seat the part. Degrease unpainted metal before painting and go over it with a primer, otherwise the paint holds poorly and flakes off during handling.
The set is an accessory to a kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
