Reskit 1:48 GBU-38 thermally protected - 4 pieces is a resin set of guided munitions in 1:48 scale. It is intended to complete the external stores of a model and it is not an aircraft kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The box contains four GBU-38 bombs in the thermally protected version. That version is exactly what sets this set apart from the ordinary one, which Reskit lists under a different part number: bombs with a thermally protective coating have a different surface and are connected mainly with operations from ship decks, where the risk of thermal load is higher. Four pieces in one box are enough to fill the whole external load of one model.
The GBU-38 is created by fitting a classic bomb with a JDAM guidance kit, that is a tail section with satellite and inertial guidance and side aerodynamic strakes. Visually it is a compact munition with a prominent flat tail module, which appears under the wings and on fuselage pylons in the numbers this four-piece set covers.
Wash the resin parts first, then cut off the casting blocks and level the surfaces by wet sanding. Assemble and paint the bombs off the model, because access to every surface is then incomparably better. After the primer lay down the base shade; on the edges of the tail module a very light drybrush works well. Spray the marking bands through a mask rather than painting them with a brush, because on munitions in this scale a straight line shows at first glance. Bond them to the model with super glue only after the camouflage is finished.
This is an add-on set, not an aircraft model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
