Resin auxiliary air scoops for the Soviet Mikoyan MiG-21MF fighter in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Quickboost. It is not an aircraft model but an accurately cast detail part that replaces the small cooling intakes on the fuselage with a more faithful and sharper rendering.
The MiG-21 (Fishbed in the NATO code) was one of the most widespread supersonic fighters of the Cold War; the MF version was among the powerful variants with a more powerful engine. Besides the main nose air intake with its cone, the fuselage has a number of small auxiliary scoops for cooling and venting the equipment. These small features are clearly visible from close up and a resin replacement captures them more sharply than a solid injection-molded part.
Resin parts call for more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue, separate them carefully from the casting block and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways when sanding. Paint the scoops in the shade of the surrounding surface, and bring the inside out with a fine shadow if you like, so that the intakes look three-dimensional.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base kit are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
