This item is not a model of an aircraft but a tiny detail accessory. The Quickboost resin casting replaces the ventral fuselage gun pod of a model of the MiG-21MF in 1:48 scale, in the form designated as the early version. The part lies in a clearly visible place under the fuselage and its shape is characteristic of the silhouette of the aircraft from below; an injection-molded kit, however, often renders it in simplified form or with a mold parting line across the whole surface.
The MiG-21 was a single-engine supersonic fighter with a delta wing, built in an extraordinarily long line of versions and widespread with dozens of users. The MF version belongs among the later series of the second generation of the type and differed from its predecessors in, among other things, the engine, the equipment and the integration of the gun armament directly into the airframe - that is housed in the pod mentioned, on the underside of the fuselage. The form of this pod changed during production, which is why makers of accessories offer the early and the late variant separately.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent and so remove the residue of mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surface by wet sanding with breathing protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue. Cut the original plastic part off the model and level the seating on the fuselage, then fill the seam and sand it over, so that the transition does not show. Fit it before the final spraying, because the part is normally sprayed in the shade of the underside of the aircraft.
The set is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
