The photo-etched set Metallic Details 1:48 MiG-25 — exterior refines the external sheet-metal details of a model of the Soviet high-speed aircraft. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model. Target kit: ICM.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched parts intended to refine the exterior of a plastic model of the MiG-25 in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft, but an aftermarket accessory. It focuses on the elements that are supposed to be as thin as sheet metal: covers and doors, vent grilles, stiffeners, small antennas, steps and strips. On a large model in this scale the difference between a plastic and a photo-etched execution of such parts is clearly apparent even at first glance. The manufacturer is the Ukrainian company Metallic Details. The photo-etched fret is cut for the ICM kit.
The MiG-25 is a Soviet twin-engine aircraft designed for very high speed and ceiling, used in the interceptor and reconnaissance roles. Because of aerodynamic heating the airframe is largely of welded steel, which shows in the character of the surface as well — coarser seams, pronounced panels and technically restrained shaping. On a model it therefore pays to give attention precisely to the surface details.
Fit the external photo-etched parts only after the seams of the airframe have been sanded and polished, otherwise you will tear them off while working. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with nippers. Make the bends on a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin. Before painting, degrease the sheet and spray on a base color. Shape the parts for curved surfaces to the surface beforehand and try them dry.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a complete model — the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
