Decals for the cockpit interior of the MiG-21 PF interceptor in 1:48 scale in a light blue-green shade, intended for the Eduard kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The PF version was created as an answer to the requirement to fly in all weather. Radar fitted into the nose, on account of which the intake cone and the diameter of the nose grew, and the machine lost its built-in cannon. It was armed with guided missiles and, when needed, with rocket pods on pylons.
The aircraft spread throughout the Warsaw Pact and beyond it and became one of the most numerous supersonic types in history. It served with the Czechoslovak Air Force for many years and a number of machines still stand on plinths by airfields today.
The full-color version of this sheet matches the light blue-green finish that the cockpits of Soviet aircraft of this period had. The shade differed between production batches and after overhauls, so a period photograph of the particular machine is a good guide while building. The artwork therefore does not blend with the darker Western palette and the difference is visible even once the canopy is closed.
The cockpit of this MiG was cramped and the pilot sat deep in it, yet the front panel shows in full once the canopy is swung open. Level the plastic parts before gluing so that the layer does not sit on an edge. Compare the shade first with the paint you plan for the surrounding walls, so that the transition does not jar.
