This is an accessory for a model of the Mil Mi-8MT helicopter, that is, of the machine designated Mi-17 in its export guise. It supplements or replaces the external housing of the equipment listed under the designation DISS-15. Behind that abbreviation lies Doppler navigation equipment that measures the speed of flight and the drift relative to the ground, so that the crew knows the real track of the machine even where it has no support from ground facilities. The housing is clearly apparent on the fuselage, and in a base kit it tends to be only a simplified shape.
The accessory aims at sharper edges and a finer surface than can be achieved in the main assembly. Where exactly on the fuselage it belongs and how it seats is shown by the manufacturer's instructions and by photographs of a particular machine: the equipment differed between users and production runs, and two photographs of the same type need not show the same thing.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder back carefully, so that the shape is not spoiled. Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint will not take. Cyanoacrylate glue works well for gluing; cement for polystyrene bites only on polystyrene. Try the fit dry before you close the fuselage up and sand the joints, so that you have free access to the place.
The accessory part alone is supplied. The helicopter model, the paints, the glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
