A decal sheet in 1:48 scale tied to a Mirage F1CT with the fuselage number 260 in the retirement scheme of 2009. The scheme carried the badges of the unit that bears the traditional name Normandie-Niemen.
The Mirage F1 differs at first glance from the older delta wings of the Mirage family: it has a conventional swept wing and horizontal tail surfaces, so it looks considerably more conventional than the Mirage III. The version designated F1CT came about by converting machines originally built for air combat into aircraft for attacks on ground targets, with the equipment to match and a gray-green camouflage finish.
Retirement schemes are a rewarding theme. When a unit leaves or changes its equipment, a chosen machine is given a striking finish that would not pass in ordinary service. It is exactly such a finish that turns an otherwise unobtrusive tactical aircraft into a model at which everyone in a display case stops.
The base has to be glossy; on a matte finish silvery edges would stay under the decal. Cut the motif out close to the edge, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it releases from its backing. Lay it on the moistened place and move it into position with a brush. Blot the excess water with a paper napkin and on a broken-up surface use a decal softener, so that the decal is drawn into the engraving. Once dry, clear-coat with a matte or semi-gloss varnish.
This is a set of decals. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
