According to the name, in the package there are a self-adhesive veneer deck with the laying of the planks printed on it, a masking template and a set of photo-etched parts, that is three different routes to better detail in one purchase.

What veneer can do that engraved plastic cannot

An injection-molded deck can suggest planks only with an engraved line. That partly fills in once painted and the area then looks artificially even. Veneer is real wood: it has growth rings of its own, the individual planks differ slightly in shade and the light reflects off the surface unevenly. It is precisely this discrepancy that the eye reads as natural. In 1:700 scale, where the deck is the largest continuous area of the model, it decides the overall impression more than most small details.

The advantage of a combined package

The deck, the mask and the photo-etched parts are all designed for the same kit, so they complement each other and you do not have to work out whether the cut-outs match. Proceed in this order: prepare and degrease the plastic, stick the veneer on from the center toward the edges, trim the overhangs with a sharp blade, spray the surrounding areas with the help of the mask and only at the end fit the small photo-etched parts, which would get in the way during further handling.
