The carrier form of the thousand-pound bomb: 1:48 MK-83 with thermal protection and a conical tail, an accessory from the brand AMMO of Mig Jimenez for 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The same heavy bomb as in the basic form, but with the protective coating used on the decks of aircraft carriers. The difference is visible on a model and is worth capturing.
The devastating fires on the decks of American aircraft carriers at the end of the nineteen-sixties showed how dangerous it is to store ordnance in a space where a single spark is enough. The answer was an ablative layer applied to the casing: in a fire it gradually breaks down, carries the heat away and puts off the moment when the charge would ignite by itself. From outside you recognize it by a lighter and noticeably coarser surface, which differs from a smooth painted body. The conical tail on this variant matches release from a safe altitude, not an attack from very low level.
The texture is more interesting here than the shade. Try applying the paint from an increased distance, so that it creates a fine grain on the surface, or use a lightly roughened undercoat varnish. The shade of the protective layer tends to be light green-gray to sand, whereas the markings and the bands stay strong. A dry brush on the edges will finally draw out the texture that a smooth spray would hide.
The set does not contain coating materials or a carrying model, unless stated otherwise.
