This is a detail set from Special Hobby in 1:48 scale for the twin-engined de Havilland Mosquito. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory representing the box of the inflatable dinghy, placed on the upper side of the fuselage just behind the cockpit. Because it is a clearly visible place, a faithfully made box raises the authenticity of the model considerably.
The inflatable dinghy was part of the emergency equipment for the survival of the crew after a forced landing on water. The box on the upper fuselage is a characteristic detail that simplified plastic parts often leave out. The accessory makes it possible to show this area accurately and with fine texture.
Wash the part free of mold release agent, cut off the casting block and clean the area up with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand the transition to the upper fuselage carefully and fill the joint if necessary, so that the box sits flush; then add the painting and a light wash.
The accessory is supplied as an unpainted casting. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
