A shaped masking set for a model of the Kawanishi N1K1-J Shiden in 1:48 scale. The elements are applied before spraying and lifted once the paint has dried.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kawanishi N1K1-J Shiden was a Japanese single-engine fighter that came from reworking a floatplane into a land-based machine. From that origin it kept a wing set in the middle of the fuselage and strikingly long main landing gear legs. The Allies used the name George for it.
Masking elements in 1:48 scale shaped to this type. They are peeled off the backing sheet and laid on the model, so there is no cutting of tape against a ruler and a template. Which surfaces the set covers is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so go through the contents before you reach for the airbrush.
Masking is done before spraying, onto a dry, degreased surface. Remnants of sanding dust under a mask will reliably cause paint to creep under and the edge not to be sharp.
The set will make the work easier for anyone who is building the Shiden in 1:48 scale and wants the boundaries of the spraying regular. The masks are shaped to a particular kit, so before buying check which kit you have and compare it with the information from the maker of the masks. This is an accessory to a model: the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
